Been A Long Time....

It was a blustery but beautiful day.  The dogs seemed energized by the wind and were acting like nuts for both of the walks.

The morning group consisting of Everest, Joey, Rover, Ryder, Josie, Wilbur, Bruin and R2 were crazy happy to be out and about after being away from each other all weekend.  They played ball and managed to stay together for the entire walk.  Usually someone (who shall remain nameless but knows who she is) takes off on her own walk about.  All the dogs decided that the large mud puddle would be a good place to have a rest and cool down. The other people at the park jump around and yell and threaten their dogs when they go through the mud but I think that as long as they are having fun then let them be.  All of them were dried off from roaming through the grass before we left for home.

The afternoon group, as always, was a much rowdier.  Wilson and his gramma Lindsay came along for the walk.  Sam came back today after being off for almost six weeks with ACL surgery.  She did really well keeping up but was obviously tired by the end of the walk.  The brat pack of girls, Nina, Pina, Shea and Gabby did their best to convince me and everyone else with a chuck-it that they needed to chase a ball.  Owen and Sidney did their own thing.  I have to say that Owen went to the groomer's last week and looked very handsome this afternoon.  Cheetos was happy to walk with Lindsay.

Olive came back to the group after being away for about 9 months.  Good to have  you back Olly!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I love this time of year.  All the kids are going back to school and the parks are not as crowded.  The traffic is a nightmare but I will take that over screaming children any day.

It felt like the dogs were having their first day back to school as well.  Some very excited doggies at the  park.  Bella, Jake, Ellie, Copper "Duck Dog", Ryder, Marty, Bruin, Everest, Wilbur and Whistler were all over joyed to be together at the park.  Wilson and his gramma Lindsay joined us for the walk.

In typical Fun for Dogs fashion the dogs lost three balls even before we made it to the river for a swim.  They were miffed by the lack of action once they got to the river but still managed to steal other dogs balls and in the case of Whistler swim for the pure joy of it. Whistler has not received the memo letting her know that she is almost 13 years old and continues to act like a pup in the water.  People were getting concerned for her safety as she tried to keep up with the current and slowly floated down the river.  Once she realized that the pack was leaving her she allowed herself to be swept toward the shore and then she ran back to us through the shallow water.

Jake was too cute.  He kept creeping up on Marty and pouncing on him.  Usually Wilbur joins in too except around water and then Wilbur reverts to "lab" status and hangs with the big guys.  Bruin stole a ball and when the other walker asked him to drop it he did.  Funny....he never listens that good to me.  Silly old dog!!

The afternoon group was very patient with me as I was very behind schedule by the time we got to the park.  The whole gang was very well behaved and I was proud when they approached a timid dog and did not overwhelm it.  Cash, Cheetos, Frank, Owen, Rover, Aspen, Josie and R2 made me proud.  They found and lost a couple balls as only my group seems to be able to do.  R2 was adorable when he laid down in the water and he seemed to be sighing as the water rushed by him.  He just loves being wet and/or dirty.

Cheetos was not happy with having to associate with the lower forms and was grateful when a kindly young  man carried him to meet the rest of us up the path.

Looking forward to happy, warm but mostly long Indian summer!!
