So cold!  So very very cold.

The big guys (Rover, Whistler, Everest, Leo, Kip, Bruin and Copper) and I braved the frigid temps on Friday and managed to get about 45 minutes of exercise in before the dogs started lifting their feet.  I was really surprised that Everest was the first to call "uncle".  The dogs and I moved at a good pace the entire walk.  We ran into Nina and Shea with their mom so it made the walk much more enjoyable.  Nina and Shea had a ball which kept Rover, Kip and Leo interested and moving for the entire walk.  At the end of the walk Bruin still did not want to go home and stood very still in the middle of the field.  I guess he thought if he did not move I might not see him.  As if I would not see an 80 pound black dog in the middle of a snowy field.  Copper found a little boxer from another group and was quite frisky with him.  They were having a blast wrestling and like Bruin totally trying to ignore that it was time to go.

The afternoon group was full of big guys again and one little guy - Wilbur.  He had on his jacket and was ready to rock when we got to the park.  At Edworthy it is easy to hide in the forested areas which cuts down the wind and makes the walk somewhat pleasant in these frigid temps.  There weren't a lot of people at the park which meant that Gabby and Pina had to find other things to do besides suck up to other dog owners and get petted.  They managed to find a ball and keep the others busy by teasing them.  Wilbur, Bailey and Sidney were wild animals in the wooded areas and were deeking in and out of the branches and low bushes.  Poor little Wilbur ended up taking a branch in the eye and had to go to the vet after the walk.  Gramma took care of him so he is going to be OK in about a week.  Sidney is very slim and has a short coat so he has to move extra fast to keep his temperature up.  He usually moves at mach 1 and yesterday he had to stay at mach 2 to generate enough heat.  He was so excited to find anyone who would chase him or rough house with.  Everest took him on a couple of times even though Ev is way out of Sid's weight category.  Frank and Sammy were very demure and calm and did not seem bothered by the cold even though they were not moving like the crazy animals they are.
